چکیده
Physiologic values obtained from 10 stone sheep (Ovis dalli stonei) were reported, providing a start in establishing base line values for the species. The influence of excitability, diet, and stress of the sheep at sampling upon certain values was recognized.

In vitro and in vivo evaluations of Pelargonium roseum essential oil activity against Trichomonas gallinae
Objective: Pelargonium roseum Willd.(Geraniaceae) is widely grown as an ornamental plant due to its strong pleasant rose-like odor. The present study evaluates the antitrichomonal effect of P. roseum essential oil (EO) against Trichomonas gallinae both in vitro and in vivo and compares it to that of metronidazole (MTZ) as a standard antitrichomonal drug. Materials and Methods: In vitro assays w...
متن کاملEpidemiology and pathology of Trichomonas gallinae in the common pigeon (Columba livia)
Pigeons (n=300) were examined during July 2007 to June 2008 in different areas of Mymensingh district. Of the pigeons examined, 202 (67.3%) were infected by Trichomonas gallinae (Rivolta, 1878). Prevalence of Trichomonas gallinae was higher in female pigeon (70.9%) than male pigeon (63.8%). Adult pigeons aged >3 months were comparatively more affected (75%) than the squab aged <30 days (72.1%) ...
متن کاملPCR Identification and Phylogenetic Analysis of Trichomonas gallinae from Domestic Pigeons in Guangzhou, China
Avian trichomoniasis caused by Trichomonas gallinae is a serious protozoan disease worldwide. The domestic pigeon (Columba livia domestica) is the main host for T. gallinae and plays an important role in the spread of the disease. Based on the internal transcribed spacers of nuclear ribosomal DNA of this parasite, a pair of primers (TgF2/TgR2) was designed and used to develop a PCR assay for th...
متن کاملExploitation of a Seasonal Resource by Nonbreeding Plain and White-crowned Pigeons: Implications for Conservation of Tropical Dry Forests
—Columbids often exhibit irregular movement patterns in response to fruit abundance. We tested whether the abundance of nonbreeding Plain (Columba inornata) and White-crowned (C. leucocephala) pigeons was correlated with Thrinax parviflora fruit production in a dry forest in southeastern Jamaica. Monthly, from November to March, we counted the number of pigeons leaving the forest to roost in an...
متن کاملMolecular characterization of Trichomonas gallinae isolates recovered from the Canadian Maritime provinces' wild avifauna reveals the presence of the genotype responsible for the European finch trichomonosis epidemic and additional strains.
Finch trichomonosis, caused by Trichomonas gallinae, emerged in the Canadian Maritime provinces in 2007 and has since caused ongoing mortality in regional purple finch (Carpodacus purpureus) and American goldfinch (Carduelis tristis) populations. Trichomonas gallinae was isolated from (1) finches and rock pigeons (Columbia livia) submitted for post-mortem or live-captured at bird feeding sites ...
